Take Control. Protect. Prosper.

Turn consultation and project funding into lasting Nation-owned capacity.

Protektant is a Nation-controlled platform for consultation and impact assessment, built around a new economic model that turns project-by-project funding into lasting institutional capacity.

See How It Works

Reach more Knowledge Holders, protect and reuse governed evidence, understand potential impacts, prepare current Impact Studies, and retain consultation capability for future projects on secure TKI-managed cloud infrastructure.

Free for Knowledge Holders to use. Permanent Free Nation Core for Indigenous Nations and Institutions.

Operational project workflows, supported implementation, funded studies, advanced modules, controlled recipient access, and other paid operational use may be supported through government, regulatory, proponent, project, or other capacity funding.

The funder supports the work. The Nation directs it. Funding does not provide access to protected knowledge or authority over the Nation's participation, interpretation, decisions, or authorized outputs.
More voices. Less repeated collection. Knowledge Holder privacy + Nation governance. Secure cloud. Local-server-free.

A different way to build consultation capacity

Consultation should build capacity - not consume it.

Conventional project-by-project funding can produce a report and still leave the Nation rebuilding the process when the next project arrives.

Existing project-by-project model

Complete the deliverable. Rebuild the process.

  • Fund the immediate work.
  • Schedule interviews, travel, and meetings.
  • Collect and assemble information.
  • Deliver the report and archive disconnected files.
  • Start again when the next project arrives.

Protektant model

Complete today's work. Strengthen the next consultation.

  • Broaden governed participation.
  • Capture reusable evidence with privacy choices attached.
  • Connect records to projects, maps, and impacts.
  • Prepare current internal work product and retain follow-through.
  • Bring eligible governed work forward for the next project.

Make every funded project count twice: solve today's problem and build tomorrow's capacity.

Temporary project resources. Lasting Nation capacity.

The funding may be temporary. The capacity shouldn't be.

Government programs, regulators, proponents, and other funding sources may resource eligible Indigenous participation and project work without taking control of the Nation's process.

Temporary resources may support

  • Indigenous participation and community engagement.
  • Information gathering and independent studies.
  • Technical review and impact assessment.
  • Related consultation and project work.

Protektant helps the work leave behind

  • Governed evidence and mapped knowledge or concerns.
  • Consultation history and reusable internal workflows.
  • Impact Study and Nation Submission readiness.
  • Institutional memory and stronger future-project preparation.
Project funding activates work. The Nation Core does not expire with the project. Funding enables participation. It does not buy control. Project-supported. Nation-directed.

Funding may be available where eligible and depends on applicable program, regulatory, project, or other funding terms.

Permanent Free Nation Core

Start free. Keep the core. Resource operational work when you need it.

Protektant separates permanent access to a core Nation-side foundation from the operational work a project may need to fund.

Free to use

Knowledge Holders

Knowledge Holders are not charged for the Protektant participation experience. Their record-level privacy and masking choices remain part of the governed workflow.

The permanent core is a foundation, not unlimited operational use.

It is not terminated merely because a funded project ends, and it does not automatically include unlimited Consultation Files, funded studies, active Impact Studies, Draft Submissions, Controlled Recipient Access, advanced modules, or high-volume use.

Supported implementation, enterprise integrations, custom work, professional services, and other operational services may be funded or paid separately.

Grassroots access

Reach beyond the meeting room.

More voices without more meetings.

Interviews, workshops, ceremonies, field studies, and professional expertise remain important. Protektant adds another governed mobile and web participation pathway.

Approved Knowledge Holders and community members can contribute observations, Indigenous Knowledge, land-use information, values, concerns, media, and locations without replacing high-value in-person engagement.

More access

Create more governed opportunities for approved people to contribute.

Less repetition

Reduce unnecessary repeated asks while preserving consent, context, and privacy choices.

Lower marginal collection burden

Broader participation need not require another scheduled meeting for every additional contribution.

Impact visibility and IBA readiness

You can't negotiate an impact nobody captured.

When relevant land use, place, practice, environmental observation, cultural value, community concern, or rights interaction never enters the record, it may be harder to assess, address, mitigate, monitor, accommodate, or negotiate around.

  1. Broader participation
  2. More relevant evidence
  3. Clearer impact visibility
  4. Stronger consultation preparation
  5. Stronger IBA negotiation readiness

Know the impacts before negotiating the benefits.

Protektant can strengthen the evidence base and preparation. It does not determine negotiation outcomes, compensation, accommodation, project approval, or benefits.

Institutional memory

Stop paying to rediscover what your Nation already knows.

Project records can become scattered among consultant reports, PDFs, spreadsheets, email, GIS systems, staff devices, previous studies, and individual memory. Protektant helps eligible governed records remain usable for future governed review.

The project may be new. Your Nation's knowledge isn't.

Ask less. Remember more.

Reuse remains subject to consent, privacy, masking, quality, relevance, protocol, Nation governance, and authorized-use controls.

Reach more Knowledge Holders

Broaden governed participation without making every contribution a separate administrative project.

Build reusable institutional memory

Keep eligible records connected to their context, governance, projects, and follow-through.

Start the next project stronger

Bring eligible governed work forward instead of rebuilding the file from zero.

Expert leverage

Pay experts to think—not to rebuild the file.

Lawyers, scientists, environmental professionals, GIS specialists, planners, cultural experts, researchers, and other advisors remain valuable.

Protektant reduces avoidable administrative reconstruction so more expert time can go to judgment and analysis.

Your advisor may leave. Your institutional capacity should not.

Less searching

Spend less expert time finding old folders and reconstructing project history.

Fewer disconnected handoffs

Keep relevant evidence, issues, responses, and commitments in a reviewable workflow.

More judgment and analysis

Use professional expertise where it creates value rather than to repeat avoidable collection.

Managed cloud infrastructure

Build consultation capacity - not IT overhead.

Protektant is secure, cloud based, and operated on TKI-managed infrastructure. Nations and Institutions do not need to buy, configure, host, or maintain local Protektant servers.

You govern the work. We manage the infrastructure.

Nation-owned capacity. Cloud-managed infrastructure.

You govern the work

The Nation controls participation, priorities, evidence review, interpretation, approvals, Nation Submissions, commitments, and monitoring.

TKI manages the infrastructure

Traditional Knowledge Inc. handles hosting, deployment, maintenance, technical updates, and underlying infrastructure operations.

Start with the workflow

Begin with the consultation problem instead of turning adoption into a local-server infrastructure project.

How Protektant works

From grassroots participation to Nation-controlled action.

Protektant connects governed contribution, Nation review, project evidence, current internal work product, authorized outputs, and follow-through without automating Nation approval.

1

Contribute

Approved Knowledge Holders contribute governed records through approved participation pathways.

2

Govern and protect

Nation-approved protocols, review, context, privacy, masking, and permissions stay attached.

3

Connect evidence to the project

Connect Consultation Files, geometry, maps, issues, concerns, and rights context.

4

Assess potential impacts

Use the Nation-controlled Impact Study workflow to organize potential impacts and evidence.

5

Prepare current internal work product

Prepare a current Draft Impact Study from the governed record.

A current report—not another blank page.
6

Govern the output

Move from Impact Study to Draft Submission, Nation approval, Nation Submission, and Controlled Recipient Access through explicit governance.

Technology prepares. The Nation decides.
7

Keep the follow-through

Track delivery, responses, commitments, accommodation, monitoring, and follow-up.

Knowledge → Rights → Consultation → Impact Assessment → Decisions → Commitments → Monitoring

Clear roles, shared accountability

One platform, three governed paths.

Each participant has a defined role while Nation governance and protected-knowledge boundaries remain clear.

Governments, Regulators, Funders & Project Teams

Support participation and project work, maintain project records, receive authorized Nation outputs, and track issues, responses, and commitments without gaining protected-knowledge access or Nation authority.

See the Project-Team Workflow

The funder supports the work. The Nation directs it.

For project teams and institutions

One project record for Indigenous engagement and consultation.

Keep project information organized and connect issues, responses, accommodation, commitments, monitoring, and authorized Nation outputs in a reviewable record.

Protektant supports regulatory review readiness and institutional continuity. Funding does not provide access to protected Indigenous Knowledge, Knowledge Holder identities, interpretation, Nation decisions, or unauthorized outputs.

Create a verified Business profile, prepare the Project footprint and supporting materials, and prepare a governed engagement request for any Nation in the directory.

Keep the process organized

Bring project records, issues, responses, and evidence into one reviewable workflow.

Track concerns to outcomes

Connect concerns, accommodation, commitments, monitoring, and follow-through.

Show the record

Maintain clearer documentation for governance, regulatory, and project review.

Data sovereignty and controlled use

Make knowledge useful without giving up control.

Protektant distinguishes Knowledge Holder control, Nation institutional governance, authorized use, and TKI's ownership and operation of the platform.

Knowledge Holder control

Knowledge Holders retain ownership and record-level privacy and masking choices.

Nation governance

The Nation governs institutional protocols, review, interpretation, report readiness, authorized outputs, and official position.

Controlled use and follow-through

Approved outputs can move through governed recipient workflows while protections remain attached.

Funding without control

Funding does not transfer governance authority or access to protected knowledge.

Traditional Knowledge Inc. owns, operates, and manages the Protektant platform. What accumulates for the Nation is Nation-owned institutional capacity, not ownership of TKI software or cloud infrastructure.

Consultation evidence readiness

Built for reviewable consultation records.

Protektant supports documentation, responsiveness, traceability, current internal Impact Studies, Nation Submissions, commitments, monitoring, and regulatory review readiness.

Important: The duty to consult is a Crown obligation. Protektant does not determine adequacy or outcomes and does not provide legal advice.

Jurisdiction-specific obligations vary. Protektant supports documentation and governance workflows but does not determine project approval, negotiation, compensation, accommodation, or regulatory outcomes.

The next project is coming

Never start from zero again.

Protektant provides every Indigenous Nation and Indigenous Institution a Permanent Free Nation Core, helps temporary consultation and project funding activate higher-value operational work, and turns that work into institutional capacity the Nation can carry forward while TKI manages the underlying cloud infrastructure.

The funding may be temporary. The capacity shouldn't be.

Every funded project should leave the Nation stronger.
